I’m pretty sure this is not what you mean but it’s worth stating that the average person couldn’t hang any better on a pro soccer field turn on a pro basketball court. Soccer is a sport that most average people could play. In regards to baseball, society, in general, has progressed that a slow-paced sport like baseball won't ever come to prominence again. With the NFL becoming the new tobacco, it's bound to decline and soccer is a sport that most average people could play. If anything, I can see soccer outpacing it in the very long term. I don't think the NBA will ever be the most popular sports league in America. I get a sense that a lot of those young fans on Twitter don't actually sit down and watch a full game. The game is more popular, yes, but I think NBA fandom gets an exaggerated picture compared to what's reality. The rating issue, while overblown, is something that needs to be looked at. Basketball was my first love and it will always be one of my favorite sports, but I admittedly hate how the media covers it.
